From a distance, the green patches on Earth may seem identical. But up close, each parcel of land is governed by different rules and ideologies. The “margins” become a kind of meta-distance—detached, yet inseparably tied to humanity, much like plastic. What kind of forms might emerge along the boundaries of each terrain? Washed-up debris from the sea? Or untouched landscapes unclaimed by urban development? These industrial yet primitive scenes seem to hover between the familiar and the alien.

Perhaps civilization, like the decomposition rate of plastic, can swiftly carbonize in the very moment it seems solid. This exhibition presents a series of works exploring plastic as a material—seeking shared sensibilities within an artificial substance that both distances and connects us.
